US Gymnast Dulcy Caylor. (JAGOC)American gymnast Dulcy Caylor is about to enter a new chapter in her career on Tuesday (Oct. 21). The 17-year-old will compete for the first time at the world championships.
Dulcy joined the U.S. senior gymnastics team last September after passing the national selection.
Before earning her spot on the national team, Dulcy had already made an impressive mark in several competitions, including the 2025 City of Jesolo Trophy, the 2025 Pan American Championships, and the U.S. National Championships.
At the Pan American Championships held in Panama, Dulcy and her U.S. teammates even returned home with a gold medal.
Her participation in the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, therefore, comes as no surprise —a natural result of her consistent performances.
So, how does Dulcy feel heading into her first world championships?
“Yeah, maybe it’ll be a bit nerve-racking since I’ve never performed on the world stage before, but that’s also what makes me excited,” Dulcy said.
Here is an interview between the LOC Media Team and Dulcy Caylor:
This is the first time Indonesia has hosted the world championships. What’s your first impression so far?
So far, it's been amazing, I think. It is beautiful here, it's so green and it's just perfect. We get to walk to these trainings and it's been really great. I’m really happy it's here.
How ready are you for your first world championships, both mentally and physically?
Mentally and personally, I think I’m as ready as I can be. I’ve really tried to get my numbers in and get as prepared as I can, and I really think I can go out there and do my four routines that i know, i can do. And just have a great time.
Do you have any specific target?
Honestly, this is, was, my target. Getting to compete here, it's incredible and i'm very grateful for it. So, just having fun and doing my routines.
You were just selected for the national team last month…
Yes, in september.
With only about a month to adapt, was that a challenge for you?
I think going into this selection, we try and be almost [ready for] world's prepared anyway. So yes, it's a tricky selection. But we give it our all, and it’s… we're kind of ready and just fixing little things from then until now.
This is your first world championship…
yeah
How do you feel about competing in your first world championships — nervous or excited?
I'm so excited. I think, yes, it’ll be a little nerve-wracking because I’ve never been on the world stage before. But that's something that I’m so excited for. I love that feeling of competing and this opportunity is amazing so I can't wait to try my best and just give it my all.
