Female gymnasts never fail to steal the spotlight with their elegant routines, expressive performances, and flawless makeup. Their grace and poise on the competition floor are complemented by how they care for their appearance and well-being off it.
So, what’s the secret behind their charm? Ahead of the finals, several gymnasts shared their personal beauty and style habits.
SABRINA MANECA-VOINEA
Romanian gymnast Sabrina Maneca-Voinea owes part of her polished look to her mother, Camelia Voinea — a gymnastics legend who competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
“My mom helps me with my makeup, but I’m the one who picks my outfit,” said the Paris 2024 Olympian.
“She chooses the right foundation for me, while I do the highlighter, lipstick, and eye makeup myself,” she added.
KATE MCDONALD
Australian gymnast Kate McDonald couldn’t help but laugh when asked about her beauty routine, admitting she doesn’t really follow one. Still, she credits her teammates for sharing helpful makeup advice.
“My makeup routine? My beauty routine? Oh, my goodness, hahaha.. I don't even know what to do,” McDonald joked.
“I just kind of just chuck a couple things on. Umm, I get tips from the girls that have helped me out, what to put where and stuff. But yeah, I don't have any tips.”
ANGELINA MELNIKOVA
Olympic gold medalist Angelina Melnikova keeps things simple when it comes to skincare.
“Just drink [water],” said the 2021 world champion, who recently made her comeback to the world stage after some time away.
But when it comes to makeup, Melnikova is all in.
“One of my favorite routines is doing makeup before the competition. I like it so much. I have lots of cosmetics. So I am obsessed with cosmetics. Sometimes they asked me which blush you have or mascara you have,” Melnikova said.
