The Italian gymnastics team features a new face at the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, set to take place from October 19 to 25. She is Giulia Perotti, a 16-year-old gymnast who has just joined Italy’s senior team this year.

Giulia is a serial winner at the junior level. Gymnast from Vercelli clinched a gold medal on floor exercise at the 2023 Junior World Championships in Antalya, Turkiye. She also took home bronze medals in the uneven bars and team events at the same tournament.

Giulia has been training intensively at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) since October 15, 2025. “This is my first senior world championships. I’m ready, and my preparation has gone well,” she said.

Here is a brief interview with Giulia Perotti:

Can you share how you’ve been preparing for your first senior world championships?

Yes, it's my first world championships as a senior [gymnast], and I feel ready. I have the exercises in place, and now I’m just waiting for the day of the competition. I can’t wait to compete.

Are you feeling more pressure or excitement ahead of your first senior world championships?

I’m a little excited, and it still doesn’t seem real being here. Very exciting for me.

Do you have any specific goals for this world championships?

My goal is to have fun and enjoy every moment of this experience. I would like to maybe make a final. But the first thing is [that] I want to enjoy myself, because this is my first experience [senior world championships]. If I can make it to a final, especially the all-around final, why not?

It’s the first time Indonesia is hosting the world championships. What is your first impression so far?

Everything is beautiful, and the travel was also a new experience. It was a long journey, and now I’m here. Today was the first training, and I had a great time. The fact that all [the apparatus] are colored. I like that a lot.
