Indonesian men’s artistic gymnastics team wrapped up their qualification round at the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships held at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, on Monday morning (October 20, local time). Competing in Subdivision 7, the team did not advance to the finals but gained valuable lessons from the event.

Abiyu Raffi was Indonesia’s sole representative in the all-around category, competing across all six apparatus: vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar, floor exercise, pommel horse, and rings.

According to the overall standings, Abiyu finished 48th with a total score of 69.197. In the floor exercise, she placed 33rd with a score of 13,066. A remarkable achievement amidst the presence of Olympians.

“I was quite tense during my performance since this is my first senior world championship. Being the host nation added extra pressure and nerves," he said.

"Still, it was a great mental learning experience competing alongside Olympians. I’ll take this as a lesson and motivation to improve and prepare for my next targets,” Abiyu added.

Meanwhile, Satria Tri Wira Yudha took part in four apparatus — vault, parallel bars, high bar, and floor exercise — while Agung Suci Tantio Akbar and Joseph Judas Hatoguan competed solely on the pommel horse.

Like Abiyu, Satria, Agung, and Joseph agreed that performing at the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships was an invaluable experience that motivates them to perform better on the global stage.

Indonesia actually fielded five gymnasts at Jakarta Gymnastics 2025, but Muhammad Aprizal was withdrawn from competition due to health reasons, following discussions between the coaching staff and the national team’s medical team.

“Today’s performances weren’t entirely optimal — there were some challenges, though a few gymnasts did very well, so it can’t be generalized,” said Ferrous One Willyodac, one of the Indonesian men’s gymnastics coaches.

“I’m proud of their fighting spirit. They’ve shown great determination, which helps build the team’s motivation. I believe they’ll perform even better in the future. Considering the high pressure they faced, their effort deserves real appreciation.”
