The 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships held at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, earned high praise from participating athletes — from the well-prepared venue to the vibrant color theme.
All-around gold medalist Angelina Melnikova, competing under the AIN flag, was particularly impressed by the warmth and friendliness of Jakarta’s people.
“I like the arena so much. I like the staff. The people, they are so friendly and kind, and smile every time,” said the 2020 Olympic champion at a press conference.
Silver medalist Leanne Wong from the United States also shared her appreciation. The two-time world champion commended the quality of accommodations and convenience for athletes.
“The hotel we stay at is very nice. We've been walking to practice and competition. So it's been nice to see all the greenery, palm trees, and nice weather. Overall, I love Indonesia,” Wong said.
Meanwhile, China’s bronze medalist Zhang Qingying was captivated by the event’s themed colors.
“I love the color, because it is very energetic,” said the 2023 Asian champion.
